Closure for a mourning family

The thoughts of Room 4 are with the family of 4 year old Lucas Ward who was found today after nine days missing.
Lucas' body was discovered by a member of the public in the Waimata river (400m upstream from his grandmothers house).

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Lucas.

Happy Birthday to Mr Reade Snr

This is a special message to Mr Reades dad (Mr Reade Snr)

Whakatane in the news...

Well it has been very wet weekend for all in the Bay. With around 40 people evacuated from their homes and many boat owners wondering if their vessels would end up in the Warehouse carpark, people were in awe of the rate of the rising river levels. As seen in the picture above, much of the ground near the Whakatane Infomation Centre was under water.

A sigh of relief has come by many this morning as they wake to a beautiful sunny day...no more rain. (at least for today).

For more pictures of the flooding in Whakatane please check out the following web address or click on the picture above:

Is this the real 'Karate Kid'?

We are very proud of Chloe who recently passed her grading to get her green belt in Karate.

She brought in her Karate gear or 'ge' (not sure of correct spelling here).

These are some pics of her showing us how much of a 'force to be reckoned with' she really is.

Meet Stu Duval...

Apanui was really lucky to have the talented Stu Duval in our school today.
Stu is a storyteller, cartoonist, artist, comedian.
He held the captive imaginations of the Apanui students today
with tales of Piha beach and Gallipoli.

The team at Un4gettable would like to extend our
emmense thanks to Mr. Duval for his session today.

Hi guys,

Well it's week three already and we're right into some cool learning.

This week our homework will be a little different. We'll be doing something different each night.

Your homework for tonight (Monday) is to continue with your reading.

I also want you to write me a 'blurb' about what K.O.S (Keeping Ourselves Safe) means to you!!
