Well it has been very wet weekend for all in the Bay. With around 40 people evacuated from their homes and many boat owners wondering if their vessels would end up in the Warehouse carpark, people were in awe of the rate of the rising river levels. As seen in the picture above, much of the ground near the Whakatane Infomation Centre was under water.
A sigh of relief has come by many this morning as they wake to a beautiful sunny day...no more rain. (at least for today).

Lots of rain but it didn't stop some of us from completing the Waikato Tough Guy and Gal race at Lakes Ranch in Rotorua on Saturday. Mud, hills, more mud and hills with a bit of swamp and cold rain. They did however shorten the original 12km to 6km (for health and safety reasons). Excellent!!! Mackenzie and I also had to wait until we could get back into Whakatane on Sunday as they closed the road for a little while. We can only assume they were waiting until the tide turned to out going and the river level was steady. Not handy driving about when you forgot your purse and the car is running out of gas.
ReplyDeleteGreat weather for ducks...
